Main Dining on Edge-Series Ships
Start your day with fresh-baked pastries and a cappuccino at a quaint cafe inspired by Italy’s famous coffee culture. Fuel an afternoon at the pool with mouthwatering American cuisine. Take your sweetheart on a date night complete with tantalizing sushi. Look out over the tranquil sea with a nightcap before sinking into your plush accommodations. You can do it all again—with a completely new set of bars and restaurants—the next day. Exclusively for AquaClass guests, Blu features a spa-inspired menu that emphasizes a holistic health experience.
Le Petit Chef
We found the cuisine to be a mix of French, Italian and "New American" styles, with good, hearty salads. Le Voyage$$$$ Daniel Boulud’s restaurant made a splash on Beyond, and reappears on Celebrity Ascent, complete with a makeover including a new chandelier, plush banquet seating and a private dining room. Surprisingly for a ship with 2,800-plus passengers, this restaurant feels spacious and uncrowded. There is ample room to navigate between tables, and the room's openness, combined with extensive carpeting on the floors, results in a tolerable noise level, even when the restaurant is busy. Breakfast, lunch (sea days only) and dinner is served at Grand Epernay, with a wait of no more than five minutes for a table, even at peak times. Service seems to be bit harried, particularly during peak dining times.
Eden Restaurant
Perhaps the most unique restaurant on Celebrity’s Edge Class ships is the Eden Restaurant. On Celebrity Beyond, this restaurant now offers both a 7-course tasting menu or you can choose your own appetizers, entrée, and dessert. We are not huge fans of buffet-style dining, so we only ate here a couple times for breakfast and lunch. Celebrity Cruises’ newest ship, Celebrity Beyond, just made her debut in the United States, and we set sail on her first cruise from Fort Lauderdale. Now, we are back and have put together this Celebrity Beyond Restaurants Guide with menus so you can see what is available at the different restaurants onboard this latest Edge Class ship.
Featured Bars
AquaClass passengers do not have to pay extra to dine here, and suite passengers may book tables on a space-available basis, for free. The food on Celebrity Solstice is generally good, with an occasional great if you've chosen a meal in one of the ship's specialty restaurants. The Oceanview Café does an admirable job at providing many options, although we did notice that it's hard to find snacks at certain hours. We do appreciate that Celebrity Solstice has made it easy to stay healthy, if you'd like, through its AquaSpa Cafe -- and easy to indulge if you don't, with the free (and delicious!) pastries at Café al Bacio.
You can book the restaurants via the celebrity App when you wish to have your dinner. There are four main dining rooms on the Celebrity Edge, all of which have their own theme. Is Celebrity Select Dining offered on all ships?
For men, a dress shirt with pants or designer jeans is a go-to for evening chic. Button-down shirts are also perfect men’s attire for dining during your cruise. It never costs more than booking directly with the cruise line, you get impartial advice, and often a better price or added extras – like onboard credit that you wouldn’t get booking direct. You can’t book this restaurant before you board the cruise, reservations have to be made once onboard. Breakfast food is free, but the cafe is only open for a couple of hours, and shuts quite early – I only made breakfast here once.
Fresh Catches
On our Celebrity Edge® Series ships, we may have reinvented the main restaurant experience with four restaurants, but we haven’t changed the way you plan your dining in these restaurants. Now, you can choose Celebrity Select Dining Early or Celebrity Select Dining Late, and you’ll be assigned one of the four main dining restaurants, while having the option to dine in the other three upon request. Choose Celebrity Select Dining Anytime, and you can dine in any of the four restaurants when you want. With Celebrity Select Dining the choice of how you plan your evening meals is up to you. This is the point at which Celebrity food choices become confusing. Guests are assigned to one of the four but may opt to dine at any of the other three at any time they choose.
Entrees exclusive to Normandie include dishes like cassoulet of confit duck and salmon roasted with wild lavender. Our chefs fuse refined flavors with unexpected profiles and beautiful plating in an upscale atmosphere. Outside of regular mealtimes, ice cream, pizza, pasta, sushi, afternoon tea and late-night snacks are on offer, all without additional charge. A juice bar serves up particularly delicious freshly squeezed O.J., but it will set you back a few bucks. No matter, the aspect is gorgeous and the space is surrounded by floor-to-ceiling glass windows, which afford great views wherever you are sat. Lunch is lighter, offering a nice mix of sandwiches, salads and flatbread pizzas. Dinner is when you’ll find the more substantial eats – think burgers, baby back ribs, BBQ grilled chicken and grilled branzino.

Lunch features one changing "Chef's Choice" station (primarily a carving station) in addition to tacos, pastas, stir-fry, sandwiches, soups, salads and other specialty stops. There is plenty of elbow room between tables, and attentive waiters are available for assistance for those who require it. The buffet layout is excellent, with many serving and prep stations situated as islands in the middle of the room, rather than stretched along the walls. The result is a dependably uncrowded, spacious operation offering an extensive number of choices.

Lobster tails may be ordered any night of the cruise for an extra charge in the main dining room. If complimentary lobster is served in the dining room as part of the menu, only one lobster tail is included. Waiter-served, extra-fee restaurants — whether fixed price or a la carte — typically require reservations. Popular choices with limited seating might fill all available time slots as soon as reservations open.
Specialty Restaurants on Celebrity Beyond
As such, it's better to make a reservation to ensure you get the time slot you prefer. Guests have the choice of the five-course tasting menu called "Five Senses" or their own starter and entree, among a broad selection of meat, poultry and fish options. The Magic Carpet is the elevator-style platform attached to the side of all Edge Class ships. Which beverages are included with my cruise fare?
The breakfast buffet on all mainstream cruise lines is suspiciously similar. Omelets stations, fruit stations, bread stations, bacon you cannot get for yourself. We almost always have the exact same breakfast no matter what cruise line we are sailing.

The cuisine style relies less on rich sauces and sauteeing and more on natural reductions, ragouts and herbs. We found the food rather uninspiring, and the atmosphere cold. AquaClass passengers do not have to pay extra to dine here; suite passengers may book tables on a space-available basis, also for free. Lunch and dinner menus change daily (as in they are never repeated) and are freshly prepared -- often with produce sourced from the port visited that day. The dinner menu is limited intentionally, apparently, to ensure the selections are always fresh.

Keep an eye out for discounts on embarkation day when specialties tend to be quiet; otherwise bookings are essential for most venues. You can also save money by buying specialty dining packages, particularly before you board, although they are also available the first few days of your cruise. Deck 5 is the epicenter for specialty dining on Celebrity Solstice. The Ensemble Vestibule -- an edgy, black, box-like room with an innovative audio-visual art installation -- is the entryway into the Ensemble Lounge, an energetic, convivial watering hole ideal for pre-dinner drinks. Infinity's sushi restaurant is hidden in an easy-to-miss area behind the Cellar Masters bar on Deck 5. Sushi, sashimi and Japanese favorites like gyoza and edamame are on the menu here.
Oceanview Cafe Buffet
Settle into comfortable seating underneath a stunning glass art installation, and refuel with delicious specialty coffees and treats to satisfy your sweet tooth. They’re all here, ready to serve up hand-crafted cocktails and ice cold craft brews, or healthy snacks and juices you need to refuel and refresh after a day at the spa or pool. When it comes to understanding our menu, we’ve created symbols for various dietary preferences.
The Spa Cafe is open for breakfast approximately 7 to 10 AM and for lunch from noon to 2 PM. Featuring small plates and smoothies (covered in the Premium Beverage Package), this is the perfect spot for a quick bite to eat while relaxing on a sea day. You can also pour your own tea (12 tea choices) and coffee, or fill up a glass with orange juice, lemonade, fruit punch or iced tea for free. The exclusive dessert is a raspberry coulis with layers of chocolate.
At lunch, a wide variety of cold options are available, plus there's a sandwich bar where you can order from a chef, who will make it exactly the way you want it. Other spots include a carving station and the daily feature station, which offers a rotating selection of deliciousness -- one day, chefs might prepare Vietnamese-style pho, the next, paella. This was one of our favorites, as many items are made a la minute and are both creative and delicious. Other hot items fell under themes like Latin American and Indian. American standards are available every day, too; head to the back of the restaurant for freshly made pizza, calzones and breadsticks.
As the sun sets against the backdrop of the ocean, your adventures are just beginning. Keep it casual at a pub-style restaurant or dine al fresco under the stars. Stay up late drinking hand-crafted cocktails, or rise early for the perfect cup of coffee or tea delivered to your stateroom.
And like on Beyond, there are wine barrel booths that overlook all the action. Expect typical steakhouse fare – different cuts of beef, ribs, fish and chicken, and a large choice of sides. Celebrity Ascent also sees a new dish -- the Lemon Poached Lobster Tail with melted leeks, shiitake mushrooms, lobster ravioli and a house-made beurre Blanc sauce. Dishes include tuna crudo, tamarind encrusted prawns and a deliciously light poached Brazilian moqueca, which comes with shrimp and squid.
Our Global Culinary Ambassador, world-renowned chef Daniel Boulud, also creates new, exclusive signature dishes for guests of Luminae and the Chef’s Table experience, there’s something to please every palate. Along with our top culinary talent on board who prepare the dishes fresh daily using locally sourced ingredients, you’ll enjoy the best dining experience at sea. Only passengers staying in suite accommodations can dine at Luminae. The space is elegant yet contemporary and large picture windows let in plenty of light. Breakfast is the same each day, while lunch offers two rotating menus, which can become a bit monotonous.
All main dining rooms also have "Celebrity Signatures" and "Classic" menu options. Like the Exclusives items, Classic menu options (Caesar salad, shrimp cocktail, grilled chicken, New York sirloin, etc.) also do not change from night to night. The Signatures menu does change every night and makes up the bulk of each restaurant's offerings. The dinner menu is not overloaded with choices, offering seven always changing entrees each night, including a salad entree. Although no separate spa, vegetarian or heart-healthy menus are added on, at least one choice per course qualifies for each category. In addition, the chef suggests his favorite from the available options, and there are also several "classic favorite" options available nightly.
